Brewers Talk: Mat Gamel, Fransico Rodriguez

Milwaukee Brewers manager Bob Melvin had a talk with Tom Hauricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.  pretty standard interview stuff but two things that Melvin mentioned that could be of interest to NL fantasy owners.  Number one Melvin expects to give Mat Gamel a chance to be an impact player in 2012.  Most likely at 1B if Prince Fielder signs with another team. In the unlikely scenario the Brewers can keep Fielder y would think The Brewers would give Gamel and Casey McGhee a chance to battle it out this spring training.  But who am I kidding Mat Gamel will be the Brewers opening day 1B.

Also Melvin said he doesn’t expect the team to re-sign Francisco Rodriguez, as Rodriguez wants a chance to close games again.  Just off the top of my head K-Rod might be a good fit with Ozzie Guillen down in Florida.  Also Houston could probably use a new closer as well.
